July 2008

We started off the month with a trip to the Natural History Museum with Grandma and Grandpa Landaker. Then we drove up to Dave and Melissa's house in Logan, Utah to begin our summer vacation. As soon as we arrived, we participated in the mystery party I wrote, Boxed Set (though as different characters).

Then it was off to the Eccles Dinosaur Park, which is basically a park with walking paths strewn with life-sized dinosaur models. The kids really loved it. Their favorite part was digging in the sand for dinosaur "fossils".

Then we wished Onyx a happy 2nd birthday -- he wasn't sure what the fuss was all about, but he was happy to eat some brownie cake.

Next we went to the America West Heritage Center in Logan, where the kids got to see what farm life is all about. They washed some clothes by hand, carefully skirted the large ferocious chickens, and enjoyed pony rides. They also liked panning for "gold" and petting the goats.

A few days later, we took a hike up to see the Timpanogos Caves. The hike is a very strenuous uphill struggle, but Quartz walked the whole way himself. Onyx needed a little help -- luckily Grandma was there to carry him and Grandpa told him silly stories. Both boys liked the cave itself, especially the bacon and popcorn formations.
