With the demise of the Red Ajah and the rise of new Talents, skills, and artifacts, the Hall (after much persuasion from the Amyrlin Seat) felt it necessary to create a new Ajah to fit with the changing times. Through long debate, countless presentations, and numerous arguments, the Violet Ajah was formed. A very few Aes Sedai (mostly former Reds) were allowed for the first time in known history to switch Ajahs.
The purpose of the Violet Ajah is to study, find, and create objects related to the One Power.
Having been in existence for only three years, it is one of the smaller Ajahs; only about one in 20 Aes Sedai belong to the Violet, though their numbers are rising faster than that of any other Ajah. Though being able to work with Earth and having enough strength to make ter'angreal are not official requirements, few join the Violet without these two abilities. Thus most members of the Violet Ajah are young and strong in the Power.
The Violet Ajah has no set policy concerning Warders; as many of its members are either former Redsther former Reds or young Aes Sedai, the issue has not presented itself yet. Some have one Warder, some have none, but there are also rumours of a Violet with two Warders, though still unconfirmed. Most Violets are rather artistic and reclusive, friendly enough and able to work with others, but known well by few.
