Aileane Arelon Sedai

Aileane Arelon was six when the Seanchan tested the girls for the ability to become a sul'dam, but was devastated when she did not pass the test. She was fourteen when her in-born talent to channel manifested itself, and she headed for the White Tower to become an Aes Sedai. In five years, she was raised to the rank of Accepted. One of her visions in the ter'angreal was of the Seanchan, that she would be collared by an a'dam. As an Accepted, Aileane was constantly battling a silent war with another Accepted named Liandrin. Liandrin was raised to Aes Sedai nine years before Aileane, and she took great pleasure in ordering Aileane around. Ten years after becoming Accepted, Aileane was raised to Aes Sedai. She chose the Yellow Ajah because her Talent in Healing had proven itself two years after she had become Accepted. She was quite young for an Aes Sedai, fourty-four years old, when she traveled back to Falme, on Toman's Head to scout out those who could channel. She knew the risks of her mission, and the ter'angreal vision replayed itself time and time again. Aileane ignored it. One day, after she had discovered two young girls who could channel, ages ten and eleven, Aileane decided to return to Tar Valon. While purchasing a few plums in the market, a sul'dam with an empty collar noticed the Great Serpent ring hung on a chain around her neck. Aileane couldn't resist the sul'dam's strength and was made damane. For as long as she could, Aileane tried to resist the collar and bracelet, but it was to no avail. She was given a new name, Kyra, by her sul'dam, Seta. Aileane - she still thought of herself by her own name - was beginning to lose hope when she met a young damane named Egwene al'Vere. She learned that Egwene had been a novice at the White Tower until Liandrin had tricked her, Elayne Trakand, and Nynaeve al'Meara into coming with her to be made damane. Elayne and Nynaeve had not been captured, and Egwene hoped they were planning to rescue her. Aileane shared her story with Egwene, about Liandrin and - even though it was not something you were supposed to talk about - her vision in the ter'angreal. She warned Egwene that the visions can come true, and that they are your worst fears. Aileane promised that if she ever got free, she would help Egwene escape the clutches of the Seanchan. One day, Aileane's sul'dam decided to take her to practice some of her talents as a damane. They were walking along a nearly-unoccupied street in Falme when Aileane felt the Power being channeled and her collar snap off. Aileane was too startled to do anything for a moment, as was Seta, the sul'dam. Before Seta could recover from the shock, Aileane punched the woman in the mouth, never feeling the pain that would have come if she had been wearing the collar of the a'dam. As she started to sprint off, she saw a woman with a dark brown braid race past her to the sul'dam. Another woman, who fit the description that Egwene had given her of Elayne Trakand, shouted, "Good for you!" and then, "We won't hurt you! We're friends!" Aileane ignored her - she was sure that if she waited, she would be collared again. She recalled her promise to Egwene (the Three Oaths bound her so that she could speak no word that isn't true), but knew that she would need a plan to rescue her, or at least more sisters. She returned to Tar Valon. A week later, after she had presented her predicament to the Amyrlin Seat, Siuan Sanche, Aileane saw Egwene al'Vere in the Tower, now dressed in the attire of an Accepted. Aileane asked her about how she had escaped, and Egwene told her. Aileane also shared her story and rejoiced in the fact that the sul'dam who had collared her was now chained to the wall in Egwene's room. She found that the woman she had thought was Elayne actually was, and the woman who had a dark braid in her hair was Nynaeve al'Meara. Aileane Arelon has dark, wavy brown hair and hazel eyes which sometimes turn to more of a greenish hue. Since her capture and escape, she has always hated the color grey, and has refused to have anything to do with it. Aileane is a little taller than the average height, but not too tall. She fled to Salidar after the White Tower coup along with the other, loyal half of the Tower, and has despised Elaida ever since. Aileane was surprised at the rank Egwene al'Vere had achieved. She also never liked Marigan, and sensed that there was more to her than what appeared. She never brought the topic up, though.
