Sora a'Desaan Sedai

Sora a’Desaan was born into a minor Kandori noble family. Sora's mother Lesal, an Ebou Dari, ran away from her home and journeyed to Tar Valon. It was found she could channel, but only to a very limited degree and was sent away in a matter of months. However, while she was in the Tower she met Torm al'Desaan, a young Kandori noble that was training with the Warders. Torm fell in love with the spirited Lesal and when she was sent away, left the Warders and took her to his estates near Chachin. Eventually, Lesal birthed twins, a boy (Devan) and a girl (Sora).

It was shown early on that the twins were intelligent, mischievous and highly willful. They were inseparable and what one learned the other had to as well. Devan started training with the sword early, as befitted all Borderland males. When Sora realized that the lessons would not include her, she pitched a violent tantrum. Reluctantly, Torm agreed to teach her blade-fighting. Physically, the twins were hazy reflections of each other. Both had rich auburn hair and fiery black eyes. Devan had promise of one day being tall and strong, while Sora was a graceful dancer and showed hints of being the beauty that her mother was.

When the twins were about seven, Sora’s mother was captured on a visit to Ebou Dar in a Whitecloak sweep for Darkfriends in Murandy. She was put to the Question and confessed to being trained in the Tower. Lesal a'Desaan was immediately executed.

Eight years later, tragedy struck again. The twins were taken in a Trolloc raid and Devan was killed and Sora knock unconscious in the immediate attack. When Sora awoke at dusk, she was bound hand and foot in the midst of a stinking camp of Trollocs and a Fade. At first, fear robbed her of her wits until she saw what was left of her beloved twin being thrown into a Trolloc cooking pot. A boiling rage erupted inside of her and she cast out in wild desperation for some way to avenge Devan. In answer, she was filled with a great flood of saidar.

Three days later, Torm and a mounted patrol found her wandering twelve miles from his estate borders, dazed and incoherent. Sora had no memory of that terrible night and the only emotion she showed was a soul-deep grief. Devan's signet ring was found clenched in her right hand. A Healer examined Sora and while she was bruised and dehydrated there were no other serious injuries. When pressed, the Healer said that Sora's memory might never return.

Time passed as in all things and eventually Sora started to heal, although she never regained her memory of that ordeal and didn’t realize she was able to channel. When Sora was nineteen, she visited the court at Chachin. Chachin was also playing host to a visiting ambassador from Tar Valon, Kiruna Sedai a green sister. Kiruna convinced Sora to go to Tar Valon.

Sora reached Tar Valon two weeks later and was once her strength was noted, immediately stuffed into novice white by the Mistress of Novices. Testing revealed that when she reached her full strength, Sora would be as strong as Egwene Sedai, the Amyrlin Seat. The Aes'Sedai that tested her were amazed at her raw potential, but totally unbelieving in her strength with Air, Water and, surprisingly, Fire. It was thought that when she reached her full potential, she would be the strongest worker of weather since the Age of Legends even stronger than Elayne Sedai.

Sora learned quickly, despite her block, only having to see something once to repeat it for herself. But Sora applied her learnings in dangerous ways, that often made Aes'Sedai uncomfortable and probably would have sent her from the Tower if not for her strength. Despite her forbidden use of practicing with the One Power as a weapon, she was raised to Accepted within two months time. It was when she passed through the ring ter’angreal that she remembered her brother’s death and her block broke.

Unbeknownst to her, she had gained the personal attention of the Amyrlin Seat during her time as a Novice and Egwene Sedai didn't want Sora's knowledge to remain useless. Sora was raised to the Shawl four months later in a private ceremony with only the Amyrlin Seat attending. Egwene Sedai only had Sora swear one oath on the Oath Rod, that was fealty, but not unconditional obedience, to Egwene Sedai.

Sora applied to the Green Ajah and was accepted. Although, she is a member of the battle Ajah, she spent a majority of her time immersed in the Great Library with the Browns, arguing logic with the Whites and training with the Warders in knife fighting and unarmed combat. Her favorite saying when asked about her diverse choices would be, "Dance the knife-edge of life with all the Fire of being." Her talent to control weather increased daily, and while no other Talent manifested itself strange phenomena were noted about her. Testing revealed she had no Talent for Foretelling, yet it was noted that she often could foreshadow occurrences. When questioned about this, she would mumble something about Lines of Probability and get away from the interviewer as soon as possible. After five years had passed, she was granted a private meeting with the Amyrlin Seat and the next day left the Tower.

Sora now Travels and Skims the countries often settling minor disputes, but she can also be found in the Blight, cleansing large swaths of it with Fire and Air. It is rumored, though unconfirmed, that she is developing weapons and methods of using saidar as a weapon by order of the Amyrlin Seat. When asked why after five years as a green sister she has no Warder, she replies, "I'll bond the Warder when I find the man who can equal me in strength, courage and Fire of heart."
