Cultural Groups
Humans – the “normal”, majority group
Al Bhed – political/religious dissidents because they use machines.
Guado – old-fashioned speech, strong spiritually.
Ronso – cross between tiger and human; strong physically.
For the most part, minorities live separately from the humans, signifying the requirement of homogeneity for a cultural community.
Notes:
The minority groups in Final Fantasy X are also important to understanding marginality in the game. Humans make up the majority of the people in the game, and tend to be dominant in politics and religion. The Al Bhed, while in appearance very similar to humans, are outcasts because they reject the teachings of Ebon by their use of machines. The Guado are a bird-like people who speak an older form of Japanese and are seen as a little strange because they live close to the Farplane, where dead spirits live. Lastly, the Ronso are a tiger/human people who are great supporters of Ebon and also very strong physically, with a peculiar code of honor.
